Lake County Jail Roster

The Lake County Jail Inmate Roster in Florida is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently held in the county detention center. LakeCourt.org helps quickly find publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, information can be obtained through the official Lake County Sheriff's Office website, by visiting the detention center's reception in person, or by calling the jail line. The roster provides the detainee's name, charges, date, and time of intake. It is maintained by the Lake County Sheriff's Office, and the data is updated regularly throughout the day.

Search Current Inmates in Lake Jail

To find someone currently in custody at the Lake County detention center, use one of three methods.

Online Search

  1. Go to LakeCourt.org — it compiles publicly available court and arrest records.
  2. Open the inmate search page on the Lake County Sheriff's Office website. The roster is usually presented as a list that can be browsed or a search field where you enter the name or booking number.
  3. If there is no separate search window on the page, use the browser function Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on Mac) to find the last name in the list.

You will need:

  • The person's full legal name (last name and first name in English)
  • The booking number, if you know it

Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

By Phone

Call the detention center directly. The operator can confirm if a specific person is in custody if you provide the full name or booking number. You can also use the sheriff's non-emergency dispatch line.

In Person

Visit the detention center's reception window during business hours. The staff will provide information about the inmate's status.

Find Lake Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person is officially registered in the detention center. This process includes photographing, fingerprinting, and entering data into the electronic system. Each record contains:

  • A unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • List of charges
  • Name of the arresting agency (e.g., Sheriff's Office, Clermont City Police, etc.)
  • Bail amount, if set

The fastest way to view this data is the sheriff's online roster. If you need an official document rather than just a screen view, submit a public records request. The request form can be downloaded from the Sheriff's Office website or use the county public records portal.

Court materials related to the inmate's case — indictments, hearing transcripts, court decisions — are kept by the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. You can also search court cases online there, accepting the terms of use.

If the person has already been transferred to a state-level facility, records should be searched through the Florida Department of Corrections search tool.

Search the Lake Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in Latin letters in the appropriate field. You can also specify the first name to narrow down the results. A few tips:

  • Check the spelling — one incorrect letter can hide the desired record.
  • If the system supports partial matches, try entering only the first few letters of the last name.
  • Double surnames or hyphenated surnames are sometimes recorded differently: try versions with and without a hyphen.

By Booking Number

This method is the most accurate. The booking number is a unique identifier assigned during registration. If relatives or an attorney provided you with the number, enter it, and the system will show that specific record.

If the Search Yields No Results

  1. Ensure the name is spelled correctly and try alternative spellings.
  2. The person may have already been released or transferred — records disappear from the roster after release.
  3. There may be a delay between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the online system.
  4. Call the detention center at (352) 343-2101 to verify the status directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Lake

The Lake County detention center roster is updated throughout the day, but it does not happen instantly. There is usually a delay between the time of arrest and the appearance of the record in the online database — from a few minutes to several hours, depending on staff workload and time of day.

Main limitations to be aware of:

LimitationExplanation
Delay after arrestThe record may not appear immediately; the registration process (photo, fingerprints, data entry) takes time.
Disappearance after releaseWhen a person is released on bail or by court decision, the record is usually removed from the current roster.
Not an archiveThe roster only shows those currently in custody. Historical records are not available through it.
Data entry errorsSometimes the name or date of birth is entered incorrectly, complicating the search.

To obtain archived records of past arrests, submit an official public records request to the Sheriff's Office or contact the Clerk of Court for court case searches. Under Florida Public Records Law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes), most arrest and court documents are publicly accessible, although certain categories — such as juvenile records or sealed cases — remain confidential.

If you suspect the person has been transferred to a state-level facility, use the search on the Florida Department of Corrections website.
